Message from Principal
I feel immense pleasure for welcoming you to the website of Dhaka Medical College (DMC), Dhaka. DMC is the most renowned and the oldest medical college of Bangladesh. Since its establishment in 1946, this prestigious institution has been producing a large number of physicians, medical scientists and teachers. They are serving competently within the country as well as in different parts of the world. The teaching hospital of DMC namely the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) is the largest tertiary care hospital among the medical college hospitals of Bangladesh.
From its inception, DMC is playing the leading role in both the undergraduate and post-graduate medical education- assuring the highest level of standard for the students to become competent in clinical, social, cultural, and ethical aspects of healthcare. DMC is permitted to admit top 250 students in MBBS course every year through a nation-wide competitive examination. At present, DMC has 1300 local and around 100 foreign students in undergraduate course and around 750 students in postgraduate courses like MS, MD, FCPS, MPhil, MPH, Diploma & MCPS.
Faculty of DMC consists of more than 400 highly reputed academics. They teach and mentor the students and engage them in research as a means of staying contemporary to their academic disciplines and in building the regional and global academic reputation of DMC.
My administration and I am working closely with the faculty and MoHFW, DU & BSMMU to achieve academic excellence through inclusion of new academic specialties, research activities and doctoral programs.
